Big Red Heart Association (BRHA) Awards Scholarship to Muskegon High School Senior

Jala Crews, a member of the 2018 graduating class of Muskegon High School, has been named the winner of the $500 BRHA Scholarship. During her time at Muskegon High School, Ms. Crews participated in National Honor Society (NHS), Varsity Cheer, JROTC, Marching Band and the Upward Bound program.

Ms. Crews’ teachers describe her as professional, organized, and respectful. Lisabeth Smith, teacher at Muskegon High School, wrote:

Jala has an air of self-confidence that is infectious. I’m very glad to know Jala and I’m certain she would be a valuable asset to any organization or institution.

Sarah Fuller, teacher at Muskegon High School, wrote:

Jala is a leader and she has a genuine compassion for others. Jala is well aware of the importance of education and the discipline it takes to be successful.

This fall Ms. Crews plans to attend Michigan State University to study Kinesiology. The team at the BRHA wish Ms. Crews all the best as she prepares to enter her first year of collegiate studies.

About the BRHA Scholarship

The BRHA Scholarship was established in 2017 and its purpose is to provide financial assistance to individuals that are pursuing a degree in health care at an accredited college or university. The BRHA scholarship committee awards scholarships based on a comprehensive process and without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.

Black Panther Movie Fundraising Event

The Big Red Heart Association hosted its first fundraiser for 2018 with private screening of “Black Panther” on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

Proceeds from this event go to the association’s scholarship fund. The Big Red Heart Association, provides scholarships to graduates pursuing educational endeavors in the medical field.
